TRACKS - from colonial industry to urban landscape
The Railway Garage Park and the Forest Art Park, are sandwiched by the longitudinal railway on the north side and the forest railway on the south side. The linear tracks divide the site into several sections, whilst also creating a unique cultural landscape.
By extrapolating the main line of the forestry railway, the green field was completed, and also dialogues well with the longitudinal railway.The auxiliary line serves as the park's circulatory system and exhibits the carriages beautifully, whilst also demonstrating the cultural traces of the entire old railway system.
To match with Chiayi’s urban aspect, cycling and walking paths have been added.The former is centered around the green field, connecting the Showtime Department Store to the Chiayi urban road system.The latter takes architecture as it’s inspiration, creating an extraordinary vision and the rhythmical of walking.
Originating from the railway tracks themselves, the line works on several different levels and scales, inspired differently within each section. Redefining and Combining the green fields, roads, tourism resources, historical landscapes, shapes a new style of urban landscape.
