Fuzzy Reference / Reconstruction of Zone Gan Gong District in Tainan City
Trying to find a kind of fuzzy, here does not refer to a divergent and unrecognizable state, but tends to describe the multiple possibilities of a symbolic signifier connection.
In the early stage of the design, I used the EOTM methodology in the Metaspaces to collect urban fragments, re-examined the fracture of urban texture caused by the Japanese’s Colonial Urban Morphology of Urban Improvement Plan Area in Tainan, and tried to propose a demonstration of cultural strategy centered on the expansion of the temple in the district. And through the research of heterogeneous galvanized steel technology, the attitude towards the base and the spatial relationship are extracted. Part of the unused buildings and vacant land around Tainan Zone Gan Gong was selected for renovation, with the temple as the center, and the network between residents, temples, and crafts was re-established in the district.
