Folding Tectonics : Exploring The Possibilities Of Paper As Deployable Facade

What would a space made of paper be like? During the pandemic, a temporary sleeping pod was built to meet the needs of students living at school. Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, the project takes mobility and easy assembly as its two primal design strategies, and chooses Tyvek paper, a lightweight and highly flexible material, as its building material. After studying the folding pattern and fixing detail, the paper façades are capable of deploying freely without losing the structural integrity, and when the lockdown is over, these facades can be compressed into small sizes to store.
