Tectonic Reconstruction of Coastline

Subject to the topography itself, the development of land in Hong Kong has formed a specialspace scene with high-density constructions. People’s great demand for public space madethem start to use the negative space for gathering, which cause the contradiction betweenman‐made public space and original public space. Besides, modern architectural projectsreject to construct these spaces in order to display complexity and sculptural features of theobject. Thus, the lack of outdoor spaces eliminates the possibility of urban space. In the past, Hong Kong lived with and lived beside the sea, closely connected to the sea. Butnowadays, people in Hong Kong are cut off from the sea by all the railings. They cannotexperience the space given from the environment, and the sea has become a restriction tothem. To deal with this problem, the base was situated on Sheung Wan, the western districtof Hong Kong, connected to ‘’Hong Kong - Macau Ferry Terminal’’. With the design of openpublic spaces, the relationship between human and the sea can get closer again and back tothe past.
