Swapping On The Boundary

I had been searching for the depth of history and the thickness of the land from the analysis of Taiwan maps. Then I found a boundary line used to define ethnic groups in the past, which is the defense lines of frontier guards.

Due to factors such as inconvenient transportation and population loss in Nantou, Sun Moon Lake still maintains the phenomenon of ethnic groups being divided into two by the border in the past.

Hundreds of years ago, the Thao people came to Sun Moon Lake under the guidance of a white deer. Since then, their life relies on the lake. However, they still couldn't resist the evolution of the living circle after the entry of different ethnic groups. Different ethnic groups living around Sun Moon Lake have different lives, thoughts and spatial memories. They also use different attitudes to face the landscape.Nature and humanities interweave the beauty of Sun Moon Lake.

Therefore, I hope to think about how to face these life circles based on the Tutingzai lighthouse erected on the border. In the design, I reshape the three elements, "sound, water, and light", so that people who arrive here can re-experience Sun Moon Lake in a different light. And the boundaries are designed to focus on "activity, space experience, and five senses" to transform the invisible barriers.Trying to guide people's direction by lighting a corner of Sun Moon Lake, allowing them to meet and communicate with each other here.
